<i>Desmodium adscendens</i> (Sw.) DC.: A magnificent plant with biological and pharmacological properties

Desmodium adscendens (Sw.) DC. is a plant of the Fabaceae family especially rich in flavonoids but also alkaloids, terpenoids, steroids, phenols, phenylpropanoids, glycosides, and volatiles. This herb has been traditionally used numerous countries all over world for its pharmacological biological properties (i.e., it treatment diarrheas, fever, epilepsy, asthma, leishmaniasis, gastroduodenal ulcer, diabetes, hepatic diseases, etc.). Given wide uses D. adscendens, this review summarizes recent data on evaluating phytochemistry as well ethno-traditional properties. In addition, an association between phytocompounds potential mechanism action cell animal models investigated, focusing with special emphasis human experiments.
